Thanks for sharing and explaining! I was like: "If cuda unpinned and pinned like that I am a million miles away." Now you are back to human form

I have never used Neatsfoot Oil. I guess I am going to buy it to try the same thing.

I am a human form and no where near perfect. That man died on a Cross over two thousand years ago.

With that said, IF I had unpinned the razor and IF I was successful saving the beehive washers, I should have been able to re-create the look of the original pinning.

It's not Quantum Physics, or Building the Space Shuttle. It's about Patience & Taking Your Time. Trust me, I know. It took me a long time to finally be able to unpin a razor and put it back together without messing up.

While the price of the Neatsfoot Oil at Amazon is reasonable/especially if you get free shipping. You should be able to pick up the same thing locally for around the same price or lower. I'd suggest a Ranch and Home type store. Just be sure that it's 100% Neatsfoot Oil.

Like this Carhartt bag that I use for work for years now, treated once a year, the brown duck is waterproof and supple and looks like leather.
Do you hsve mesdurments of each? I was gonna use it on a few leather jackets.
What does the pine tar add to the concoction?

I covered them with Neatsfoot Oil then put them in my vacuum chamber and started a slow evacuation, the small air bubbles soon started to come out of the horn.

I left the razor under the slight vacuum for about 15 minutes then when ahead and pulled the full vacuum and left it for an hour. At the end of the 60 minutes the bubbles were still coming out but greatly diminished. I figured that I'd put as much oil in them as they would take so I opened the valves and was pleased with what I found.

After drying the excess oil off I let the razor hang for about a half an hour then re-wiped everything, then I used Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish with some well crumpled newspaper on the blade then used some 000 synthetic steel wool on the scales then wiped all down and ran the scales on some CrOx.

I did have to tighten the pivot pin and it's still close to self centering. I'll leave it till another day to play with everything else and will report back.

    Nice restoration

I would not use this concoction on leather, this is mainly for cotton especially brown duck, heavy canvas type. The pine tar Like Stockholm and Bickmore is a water repellent and antiseptic and been used in marine application for centuries mainly in dipping ropes to make them waterproof.
