Looking forward to the new lot. It's been pretty dry down here lately, so I've switched from my typical Coral Skin Food to my dry weather (or badly razor burned) alternative, T&H Classic Balm. The only reason I mention this is that it should allow me to comment on whether the formulation (in my opinion of course) would work as a year round product, or if (again, for me) it would be a three season AS.

Hope life is treating everyone well.
    Cheers,
    Ed

    Good Afternoon Gentlemen

I have worked most of today on the Aftershave selections and tweaking the formulas. I won't say this time what I think about the scents... It has been so nice very to have a Whooooole day just to work on AS formulas and blends. SO everything is on schedule and we'll shoot for a Saturday morning mail date.

I'm feeling a bit out of the loop these days, and having no idea what news is on the grapevine, I wondered if y'all knew that Don ( Taz ) via Lynn has asked me to make a shaving soap too? I mentioned that we were working on an AS and it seemed to me that If I could find a blend suitable, then I could just make the shaving soap from the same blend.

Does this sound reasonable to everyone? and I also told Don that I would send him some of the test AS. Just so ya know what I've been up too.

Is anyone here going to the conference in February ?

    XXWarm Regards, Colleen

Great Colleen... can't wait to try out the new scent. You mentioned earlier that you were going to introduce some FOs to the blend... I think that will be ok since I've read that FOs they tend to linger longer... that might solve some of the problems you were having earlier.

Hmmm what's new... well, not much other than the crash, which you knew about. And a couple other soap purveyors have been plying the group as of late.

And yes... Don was added to this group of testers shortly after he contacted you... so he's now a tester and you should be sending him samples of the AS. (I'm pretty sure I passed that along to you then, but that was at a time when you were swamped with other things, so don't worry if it slipped your mind.)

I'm not going to the Ohio regional get together if that's the Feb meeting you're referring to... Hey, if I had $600 to spare, it wouldn't be to go to Cleveland IN THE WINTER

[tomorrows NWS forecast for Cleveland is: Snow. A chance of freezing rain or sleet in the morning. Additional moderate snow accumulation. Highs in the mid 30s. Southeast winds 15 to 20 mph...becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent. That doesn't sound like fun to me ]

To fill you in where this went. I started working with Colene on a soap and then we discussed doing this together and I thought it would be a great idea. Working on making it a special package a top tier AS and soap. Also looking at some special SRP packaging. As Colene put it "It will look great sitting on a shelf at Saks" This is going to be a great thing for us and SRP

    Good Morning Gentlemen!

Ahhh yes.....we are getting closer. There is something about Fragrance oils that hold longer, I'm sure its whatever fixative they use..... be nice to know what that is "exactly"......but in the meantime, I just keep adding a little of this and a little of that.

I have really tried to figure out a better way to understand the dry down part, complete with scent strips, single and compounds....and then taking notes about every four hours, which is a pain in the butt....BUT it actually proves to be helpful.

While the last round was unsuccessful in terms of scent, ooooooo and the burn! both proved to be good lessons. Do you know that in the beginning when I first started making shaving cream I never made any real progress until I sent out a bad batch Sometimes understanding what NOT to do....is very helpful in formulating. Unfortunately formulating scent can be more elusive.......

Oh yes....tis true about Saks 5th Ave. .....is the name of that place really "Saks 5th Ave". ? or is it...... "Sak's on 5th Ave. ?

My theory is..."If you're gonna dream, may as well dream big". Just like the song that says " this ain't no practice life"......lol... So, I'd much rather shoot for Saks than Wal-mart any day

    It is "Saks Fifth Avenue".

I agree always shoot for the top. Like having a steak at Peter Lugers (NY instituion) or getting a wopper at Burger King.
I also find I learn more from my mistakes than anything else. Oh well.

That's why they put erasers on pencils..

    God love your Heart !

This has been a tough one for sure, of course I'm very hopeful for this round....and slighty nervous, like geez suppose this one doesn't work either.

But I took heart last night when I saw the fella with the vacumn cleaner ( can't remember the name of the vacumn cleaner) but he states it took 5,000 prototypes to find ONE that worked..... so I thought well, hell....I'm pretty sure I can beat that ratio

Samples will not leave until Monday, my little bottles arrived yesterday but I'm skitzy enough now to be double checking notes twice, smelling scent samples over and over studying dry downs. I want to be sure the scents have a least another day or two to marry, and I'm going to try something a little different this time with AS....vs.....EDT.

Now I don't know how many little spray bottles I have laying around, but I'll gather those up today. I'll choose one scent....and make it into an EDT. (You'll actually have 3 Aftershaves to choose from, with 3 different scents ) so one of those will also be bottled up as an EDT. I hope that I'm making sense.....

I'll be back around this evening with more notes on exactly what will be going in the mail on Monday. But for now, its time to head to the "little house".

    XXWarm Regards, Colleen
