My credit card charges an additional amount for any transaction originating outside of the US. This is in addition to the exchange rate conversion where they already make money... Don't the CC companies already charge the vendors a fee? Three places to make money in one transaction. Wow.
Anyway, this is great soap and you will soon forget all about the price when you start using it.

Not all credit cards do this. CapitalOne doesn't. I checked the amount with MdC (and my cc company) and with the current conversion rate, the exact (and correct) amount was charged. No transaction fee overseas. Note: With MdC, do the calculation in Euros on their website, not in USD...their website's conversion rate is obsolete and wrong.

Thanked: 10I have used MDC several times but this morning was the first time I face lathered with it and I found it to be a much better experience face lathering than building lather in a bowl.

Sounds like Martin de Candre is great soap, but is it true it's $50 a puck plus P&P?

Hello, Blackpool:
The prices are on Martin de Candre's website: Soap factory Martin de Candre : Shaving soap made in the ancient style following a Marseilles method
The shipping is the killer.

Dang you Obie.
This uncontrollable force overcame me and forced me to order the stuff. When the Missus finds out she's gonna flog me with my DD Extra heavy Horsehide Strop. My blood will be on your hands. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Hello, thebigspendur:
At least you'll go with a smile on your face, knowing you've had a sweet shave with an incredible soap.
Until two days ago I was flat broke. Then an old client paid up for a piece of writing I had done. Guess where the money went: I ordered a wooden tub of Martin de Candre. I mean some things are important. Now I am back to being flat broke again. Oh, well . . .
By the way, tell dearly beloved you ordered Martin de Candre to make your Hollywood face especially soft for her. Also, do remind her that Martin de Candre has products for the ladies, too, and that you think she deserves something from them.
Yes, I like that.
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 1195lol That one has worked for me in the past.......
BTW - I took a look at the prices for MdC and it seems reasonable. But I keep hearing that shipping is the clincher. I tried to do a mock check-out, but they wanted me to sign up. Could anyone tell me what the rough shipping cost to North America is? If you don't feel comfortable saying so in an open forum feel free to PM me.
