Life has been good though, just haven't been on the forums as often as I want to. I will try to get on more often however! I miss the brotherhood of the forums that is clearly here.

Now to keep on track if the thread. I started trying out some cross fit workouts... Holy crap! Those are BY FAR the hardest workouts I have ever done in my life. Nothing even touches those. They are super short time wise but you feel like you want to die after doing them. Those have been put on hold by lacrosse season, but I fully plan on picking cross fit back up after the season ends.

    Good to be back!

    Today is shoulder day:
-4 sets of seated dumbbell presses, 12 reps heavy.
-3 sets of cable raises, 14 reps.
-4 sets of standing dumbbell flyes, reducing weight on second set. 10 reps.
-Finish shoulder workout by destroying traps with 3 sets of barbell shrugs, as heavy as I can get 12 reps out of it and still maintain grip strength on the bar.
-2 sets of dumbbell shrugs, also heavy. 12-14 reps.

I shan't bore you with the details of all the workouts I've been doing. It's been a combination of circuits as part of my training with the Army, 1 or 2 sessions a week with British Military Fitness, and runs of various distances carrying weight. The result? A couple of weeks ago I managed level 12.7 on the MSFT, following a 'gun run' totalling about 2 miles, an improvement from my 11.10 the previous week, on fresh legs. Things are going to be getting a lot more serious in terms of my workouts in the next couple of months, in preparation for attending the Army Reserve Pegasus Company in April. Currently aiming to get in 5 workouts a week, planning them so as to allow different parts of my body to rest each day, with a gradually increasing time spent running with increasing weights on my back. Now I just need to hope my unit will choose to put me forward for the selection!

Firefighter, RSully and mainaman that's motivating stuff!

I did this for twenty minutes. Still trying to get used to these ring things; I'm not very good!

Motivating as well. That looks like a good workout, it would also strengthen your core as you try to stabilize your body.

That's certainly a great exercise to do!

I think I may have to try out Tabata as well, as I could do with some HIIT in my workouts.

    Anyway, onto today's workout...
I had an hour free between lectures at uni today, so spent 20 minutes on the rowing machine, managing 4567m.
My main workout was a swim: 12 x 25 steady warm up; 5 min rest; 10 x 25m sprint, 25m recovery; 5 min rest; 6 x 50m sprint, 35sec recovery. To say I hate swimming would be an understatement, but I'm making definite progress - able to swim continuously more easily, my sprints are faster, my recovery times shorter - so it looks like my regular swims are definitely worth it.

I'm no great swimmer, but when I DO go to the pool I like to do laps lying on my back, arms by my side, just kicking my legs. It's a great leg workout
