That was why I did it. It kept the customers coming in asking for me. You know what I'm talking about then. When other guys are standing around waiting for work sometimes, you're always busy. That was me. It was great but then the dealer started charging customers for it but I was still doing it for my customers & others when I could get away with it because I generated more customers. When ya work flat rate, ya gotta do it & do it right to keep from having come backs. I'm sure you did like me & always went over your work before starting on the next job.
Yep, lubed the saddle bag hinges & tightened them up so the part you pulled on wouldn't pop out.Last edited by engine46; 09-10-2017 at 02:46 AM.

A few user grade Razors I worked on today. Did a bit of sanding and scraping to knock off the rust, Dug thru the Scale box for one set that needed replaced and repinned. Nothing fancy but I will have lots of honing to do tomorrow.
Green Spike
Red Snap No. 35
Plastic Wood Grain Genco
Then the one I saved last week.
Black Plastic No Name
I got 3 more ready that need new scales finished. Will work on them tomorrow. It's just Sharpening, right?

Razors are looking good! I'm glad to see that unlike some you're not trying to get every razor a near 'mirror finish'. Nothing wrong with a little battle scars and history being left.
Did the SPIKE lose that deadly 90 deg point? Look a bit rounded in the picture. Those actual square points can be really wicked. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

Thanks Dave. They are not perfect but should shave just fine after some honing. Trying to get thru my box of to-do razors. About done with all the best of them. Now I'm working thru the rest. Just counted. 18 more to go till the box is empty and I can start over. I'm going to need some more scale material before it all done.
The edge on the Spike is turned up a bit. Someones rough honing so the point isn't really deadly. I like the points. It keeps me on my toes.
Ha. Thanks Roy. As far as mirror finish, thats only for the special ones any more.Last edited by Gasman; 09-11-2017 at 02:18 AM.

Thanked: 8Thanks for all the inspiration. I will soon start to try restore some razors myself. Been trying to read on things I need. And I think I have a pretty good picture of what I need and how I will start my work.
For restoring a blade. Getting rid of rust och pittings, would a old true wedge be esiest? Lots of steal to remove but also its flat. Well I will surely post some pictures when I start getting a hang of it!
