Thanked: 4206Lathe's must be in season.
I turned to mine tonight to start roughing out a bowl I've wanted to make for some time.
It's going to be for some Sartorial soap I've waited to get. Decided not to wait for the 'in the bowl' to come back in stock so using some of that tasty burl slab you sent me Shaun.
Hope to do something fancy around the lid perimeter, but we shall see.

Thanked: 4206Yessir big jaws to hold it tight till she's a lil smoother.
Figure once the soap chamber is hollowed out I can flip her to clean up the bottom, than flip it back around to make the lid detent all nice like.
First lidded bowl I've tried to turn in near on 40 years.."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 4826Sorry for the name screw up Matt.
I am happy to see that wood gettin used up Mike. I know some of it went on the super fancy light box of made for your wife. It's great to share wood and see what it gets made into. I was a pretty nice piece for sure. I still have a bunch waiting to become something. I am excited for the project. The in bowl stuff would not have come in as nice of a bowl as you can make, they always look like they were made without love or pride. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanked: 4206Amen Shaun.
It's going to be form fitted to the sartorial puck alone. It is my favorite scent of all I've tried.
And thanks to you fine bunch of enablers, I have tried a vast number more than I though I would in my life.
Thinking of maybe trying some Celtic banding around the outside edge and the name engraved in the middle. Might end up just polishing it up though as this stuff is so pretty, why mar it with stuff.."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

I dunno....I peeled and stuck all the labels from the SDM on the bottom of the bowl Andrew made. Lignum Vitae. Won't hurt a thing. Peeled the wooden top off the original container for the donkey graphics. Pulled-out all the little nails.
Idea! Turn (grind!) it down a bit, give it a good clear-coat, and stick it to the inside of the lid.
....Can do it as the soap goes down!
Won't see a thing as the bowl is sitting there!Last edited by sharptonn; 09-12-2017 at 04:20 AM.
