I'm glad that it all came out well for you. Who would have thought about the super glue and baking soda but also ivory and bone.

    Great looking work mike.
Wonder if you can fill in the missing mark on the tang still with some ink and micro mesh the overage away? Seem to still be nicely defined pockets to work with..
Just a thought but man, nice recovery buddy...

All back together, and ready for some time on the rocks.

It makes a helluva strong repair, I'll tell ya. Just as, if not stronger than original.

When I stumbled upon that repair, the trick was being used to repair a guitar. The Luthier did a demo with a pinch of baking soda then a couple of drops of really thin super glue then let it set up for about 2 minutes. It was hard as glass. The guy used a wood chisel and a hammer and had to hit it twice to break through it.

I must note that when it came time to repair the guitar the guy used bone dust and said it worked just like the baking soda.

Here's the link where I found this repair method:

I’m with B52. You’ve gotta get some paint in those letters. It’ll make a huge difference. Very nice work by the way(as always).

I’ve also used this trick on a guitar nut that I thought I was going to have to be replaced. Worked like a charm.

Great job on the save Mike. I was wondering how well that CA and Soda was going to work. But as you showed, it turned out fine.

The stamp mark is typical for a Torrey.
