A good way to go I agree but in some ways that feels like you are "cheating".

I have seen "old" guys that can sharpen quicker than the time it takes to set up the jig.

We used to call that "adapting and overcoming". Cheating is such a harsh term for achieving what you set out to do no matter the process that you use. And yes, I have a drill doctor and use it often. It gets me from point A to point B with the desired results. My drill bits are aways sharp and there wasn't any learning curve; just sharp bits always.

It's not nice to call Benz an 'Old Guy' as he's a few years younger than me! I watched him touch up a drill bit during my stay at his place and YES he did it freehand.

If I was up to the easiest, latest, and greatest way of doing things I probably wouldn't be hanging around a site like this with straights and natural stones.

No doubt, the Drill doctor is great. I borrowed one from my landlord and sharpened every bit in sight. Worked a treat!

Yep, and the chips came out both of the flutes. I remember telling you that to be correct I should have used my L.S. Starrett drill point gauge but I was lazy and didn't.

Which was pretty-much inspired by a visit from my antique Bengall, I suppose?

True story, I totally plagiarized the Bengall scales. I have a couple here too.
