Thread: What are you working on?

I like the scotch double sided thin tape. But i used to use paper and whate glue too. Not the double sided is easier. Not too bad on pealing off when you need it too.

Nice looking scales Mike. I got a few of those rivots left. Shaun sent them to me a while back. They come in handy when your in need. Im not sure why, but ive got 2 basic bottles of CA and i never have an issue with it drying up. Top the cap and it comes out. Ugly around the tip that i have to clean off now and then.

When I got the colored CA, I also got a roll of adhesive 800 grit sandpaper because I figured it might be useful to make an 800 grit sanding wheel like this Dremel tool among other things like a stick with sandpaper on it & anything else. That's the finest grit they had but a good grit also.



The adhesive sandpaper can be gotten from 80 grit -800 grit at...................where else but StewMac:

They're really proud of it though which is why I only got one roll for now.

Anyway, in it was written among other things, some info on making wheels with high grit paper.
I took a hole saw and made wooden wheels. Then glued various high grit sand papers to them. Went up to 12k with micro mesh.
What was cool was that at those high grits they aren't gonna cut in so bad... Just watch the temp and rpms.
... Just another tool for the box.

You guys are hard-core. I just cobble and improvise. Re-usable abrasives, 3-packs of Harbor Freight CA in the little tubes, a hammer, Dremel, drill press, and a screwdriver!

I do what I want to.....I have a few 'bursts' of creativity. If it becomes hum-drum, I am shoving it to the front to get it done.

I got's fun stuff to do!

Just got the chance to watch the vid. That was very cool! Great info for sure. My double-sided scotch tape works just fine for me but this info will be a great trick to have for many other projects. Thanks Marty.

I guess I'm picky at what I buy at Harbor Freight these days. I've bought those 3 packs of CA before but they dried up before I could use 'em all. But then again, I have slowed down in the last few years.......

Mike, I do have some 4k, 6k, 8k & 12k micro mesh. That fine stuff is like a super polishing type abrasive.
As I said, great minds think alike.

Finished MikeT's Bencini last night.

Used original wedge, and pinned with silver nickle rod, as it was.











Then a honing for the next test shave, which revealed a small even bevel.

Now that is a beautiful bevel!

Sometimes when I get home from work, I'll fall asleep on the couch. It screws me up. But typically I'm up till 11 or 12:00 before going to bed. Wake up around 6:00, no alarm clock, can't sleep past 6:30 cause that's when the cats start crawling all over us, they want breakfast.!!
