Thread: What are you working on?

The box came from a link someone shared on the forum. Another guy was looking for a display box and someone posted the link. 9.95 shipped for a wood box with close enough size. I just couldnt pass it up.

An update on a conversation we were having 3 months ago...

After talking with suppliers of fuels i have found that E85 might not be 85% Ethanol any longer. They have come to a recent conclusion that its eating cars faster than they expected. So now days, depending on your location and supplier or brand name it could be as low as 74%.

Just wanted to set the record straight being the Gasman. I feel its my duty to all here.

Thanks for the update Jerry, more info is always better.
I was a jerk complaining to those poor gas station clerks about the e85 when driving through areas affected by the ethanol lobby.
Though I soon realized the error of my ways, I've still got 74% of the way to go until I'll feel good about pumping that fuel.
Thought about buying a diesel powered vehicle and scavenging vegi oil from fast food restaurants, but that idea didn't get past the drawing board.

I've been busy busy and working overtime.

Hey all, hope everyone has been well, been a busy summer for me. Lately haven't been doing much razor work, but I've escaped a couple times and been twiddling with this Tally Ho. Blade is cleaned up as far as I'm going to take it. Just a haze of reflection on the blade face, still some defects over all but should be just fine. I tried my dremel which I normally dont do with buffing compounds. It's an ok process, soed things up a bit but still think I'll stick with hand sanding for the most part.

Also had some time to clean up this W&B FBO. Still have to finish bevel set and honing. Had a chip in the edge so it's been a bit of work cleaning that up. Over all this blade was pretty easy to get clean. Best part, I forgot I had it until I was digging around and stumbled on it.

I have been busy and not doing as much work as I had hoped. I did get a chance to tinker with another brush. I have a set of scales in oil and when they come out they will be ready to pin. I am very envious of the retired guys and those that choose to work.

This old ever ready handle had a pretty beat old knot it it, so I drilled it out. The handles are hollow. So I filled it with cold cure. Note to self, cold cure gets really sticky when it gets warm. It works but it is not the best choice for materials for filling and drilling. I cleaned it up a bit afterwards and have a two band ready to glue in.

The new knot will work great andit will still look like a vintage handle.

Nice job on the brush. I keep looking for a handle in that shape locally but nothing yet. I need to bring my vintage brush collection up. Someday.

I'll keep an eye out next time I'm in the antique shops.
