So denatured XXXX in a water bottle should pass the test. Leave it sitting right out front in the holder. In plain sight. Same way with putting vodka in water bottles on a cruise. I will bring all my tools. Mine is yours. Unless we are doming washers I think I have us covered.
Your only as good as your last hone job.

Just a quickie tonight.
Picked this one up the other night. The levering razor co. The artist 5/8 round point. But it must be an older one, since I've never seen one with such a thin tail. Removed the blade from the scales last night be fore bed, ran some emery acrossed it this evening. And put it back in the scales, and honed it up for tomorrow morning's shave. Just kept it simple, for there's not much you can do for the ol girl, except getter shaving again.

So, Matt!
Did some CroOx and FeOx show up?

Thanked: 10Hi
Nice strops.
I haven't seen Iron oxide used on a strop before.
Do you concider the iron oxide courser than the crox?Dennis

No, the FeOx is finer. Basically rust, I suppose. Gently top of the chain, good after the CroOx, IMO.
I always recommend wiping the blade/spine lengthwise and stropping the edge good on a towel after any pasted strop to avoid cross-contamination. To me, anyway, the 3/16 balsa with nice grain and sanded lengthwise, with rough 100 on a block, retains these powders great and it takes surprisingly little to paste them, FME. You need no oil, or other media. Just the powder of good quality for the purpose. The thickness of the balsa makes the strop 'give' a bit and they will touch-up, smooth-out, perfect a lot of razors in a way which will keep the bevel straight and true. Fabric strops pasted will follow the path of least resistance, IMO.Last edited by sharptonn; 04-27-2016 at 02:14 AM.
