    It's teak. A water resistant wood used in the marine industry. Quite strong too, for a open grain.

    Now I see it! I had one of long-grained hickory which had an obvious grain you could feel. Nice look!

    Very nice restore on that fifty Tom! Would be a hoot to toot around on that now that it's up sized.
    Teak scales, very nice look Mike. Bet that open grain feels nice in the hand.

    That teak reminds me of some old bog oak. I have to remember your stain recipe. That would work well on an old chest I have that needs some work.

    Equal parts vinager/ water, a tea bag, coffee, and steel wool. Just google..

    Well, almost! For what I spent on it I could have ordered up a new Lifan 125cc motor and definitely pureed some pavement. And myself in the process!
