Thanks for the suggestion dinnermint rust removed successfully. There is some edge degradation but I believe it should hone out. I'm going to leave the most of the patina used never dull brought out a bit of shine. Pretty pleased thanks again outback and dinnermint

That's exactly what I was wondering, thanks for the pictures and explanation. I have a bag of like 100 of each of those size stainless washers from microfasteners and have been wondering how to, well, dome them.

Well finally got this wacker to take an edge. Took it to the dmt 325 for a few minutes to rid itself of its chips. Spent a bit of time on the 1k. Had to kill the edge a few times. It also has a slight warp to it but not too bad. Once I got that bevel it went to the norton 4 and 8k then the naniwa 12k. A little strop session and it's popping hairs like crazy. I'll see how it's stacks up against my RA honed by Lynn[emoji1]
In the end I only lost about 1-2 mm off the edge. All in all I'm pleased hope it shaves well.

Phil, keep in mind that outgassing from those scales likely caused the damage over a long time.
Keep it clean, good air circulation.. I use 3M wet silicone on those amber cell scales. They drink it up.Last edited by sharptonn; 08-19-2016 at 01:14 AM.
