    Refaceing a wonky wedge.
Spent a few hours trying to hone up my other W&B from the 2 day set. Would not set a bevel, tried every possible technique, and some that may not even exist. So I layed it flat to the stone, no tape on the spine, and made a few scrub passes on each side to see what's going on. Just as I suspected, bad spine wear, and this was almost a true wedge now. So off to the OUTBACK, were I'll make this a true wedge, and get everything right again.
I'll start on a 220 Naniwa SS till everything is right, then progress to 1000, till bevel is set. At this point I'll decide to either tape and finish the progression, or go all the way without tape.

Now there's an approach I wouldn't have thought of. That's a cool idea outback, waiting to see how it works out.

I did it once already to another wedge I have. It had horrible pitting from mid blade, to the spine. The edge was immaculate. I needed something flat, so instead of sanding with paper, I used my stones instead. Works a lot better than hand sanding, and kept everything even.
One layer tape..."Pow" nice even bevel.

Are you going to regrind a hollow in it and return it to being a 1/4 hollow or are you going to check the tables and build up the spine with tape to get the correct angle, or hone it flat
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Good luck honing a true wedge w/o tape if that's your choice

No challenge really, just needs a bit of the outback elbow. She'll be popping hairs in no time, and live once more.

If by some crazy fate of god it doesn't, I'll send it to Texas, but it don't ring like German steel. [emoji6]

Might be time to chuck-up one of those yellows and some greaseless and try to get some hollow in there!

Never know what you can learn in this thread, including vocabulary. Nice word, had to look it up.
