Thanked: 4828Pretty little shop knife. I am working on a bathroom, I would rather be carving. I need to get over the hump that is the end of drywall and the start of tiling. I am having supplier issues and it is taking the wind out of my sails.

Contact a few local Beauty Salons and ask who sharpens their scissors. There are places that you can ship out to but for instance I have a friend in Tucson who sharpens locally and there is a man here who does it.
At the encouraging of my friend in Tucson I considered buying the equipment to make some extra money after I retired (my friend charges $25 per set). My oldest daughter has her own Salon and after talking to her and finding out that she uses 'pretty cheap scissors' I wasn't interested. Seems her scissors are 'only'$350 per pair and some use scissors that cost up to over $800. One mistake and I'd be out a lot of money. I retired to eliminate the stress and strain, not start all over again.
If you can't find someone locally let me know and I'll put you in touch with my friend. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

32t if you are presuming that I would have charged my own flesh and blood for working on her scissors, you are sadly mistaken. Family doesn't charge Family.
With that said IF I would have started a business sharpening scissors for Others, Yes they would be charged. Otherwise the business would fail as that's what people in business do, they charge for their services and goods.
Oh and back to family charging family. When that daughter opened her own shop I insisted on being her first PAYING CUSTOMER. She said "Dad you know I don't charge you to cut your hair." I insisted!
Her shop was to open at 10am and I was there at 9:30 she cut my hair and after had me all cleaned up and ready to leave I reached inside of my shirt and pulled out a small gift wrapped package. She asked what it was and I said, "It's your Payment" when she opened it she found a framed Dollar, the very first dollar she had earned in her own business and it was a Silver Dollar that was 125 years old at the time. She thanked my very much and then asked if she could paint the frame to match her shops decor and I of course said yes.
Have a Nice DayOur house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

My first attempt at customizing a Gold Dollar. Sorry. Its not pretty. But its a beggining. I might end up changing it some more...as you can see, i had a medical ready to go.
Ive never worked with steal before so didnt know what i was getting into. This is about an hours work. And those points are killer. I got to fix that as i can see stabbing myself easy. Cutting edge is now 2.5 inches.Last edited by Gasman; 03-13-2017 at 10:43 PM.
