Today I finished my above the bench storage system, which I found in the book "American Woodworker, How to Make Workbenches & Shop Storage Solutions".

Now that's pretty slick.!!

However I don't see a hole for a Holdfast.

Maybe you can get down to Charlies and make one and then make a hole for it

A row or two of correct size holes for bench dogs and holdfast will make this workbench very user friendly. Nice work, from personal experience the bottom row of storage on the wall will eventually get in the way.

Finally got a chance to finish this Wade & Butcher today. It was in pretty rough shape to begin with, and she's still not all that pretty, but she's got a nice shape. It had deep rust on the tang and some on the blade as well. It did all I could with it to bring it back into service. Here it is in a test fitting, the lead wedge still needs to be trimmed down.

Then I got the scales smoothed and polished and put it together...

It wasn't too hard to get a good edge on it, finished with one of my best coticules. Couldn't wait until morning to try it so I just had a shave with it tonight. It was my first time shaving with anything over 8/8 and it had my full attention for sure. Used a little Wool Fat and what a wonderful shave! One of the smoothest, closest and most comfortable I've had. Plus, you can fit a lot of lather on that blade before needing to clear it, that's for sure.

Indeed Tuzi nice work, big razors hold lots of lather, look good my friend comparing to how it started, Enjoy!

OK, Showered and shaved. I have to say that I really liked the fact that the blade is now 2.5 inches long. Seemed to be a bit more nimble. Getting in places easier. I really didn't think that 1/2 a inch would make much difference , but it really did. As far as the sharpness of my honing, I did a fine job if I say so myself. Now when I touch the edge (i know, I shouldn't touch a finished edge but I do being new) the toe didn't feel as sharp and the rest of the edge. Definitely not dull, just not as sharp but this made no difference when shaving. I find I use the heal more than the toe having a Goatee. Trimming and such.

So I also understand that the G.D. wont hold an edge as long as a vintage razor but this is not the reason for having it. I wanted something I could customize and I wasn't going to do it to a vintage. It will go into the rotation but my rotation is all my razors so with 27 razors now, It wont get used too much. ha.

Thanks to all for putting up with me and my G.D. I know some folks hate them and other could care less, but it was a good experiment for me. I enjoyed grinding away the metal. Getting to know how had this kind of steel is. and I got another pretty razor now!
