Well, it could be an inlay on a box or something! I think you need to do one with the rooster and the pig as well!

So back on this pearl W&B, it looks pretty good from a running horse on the outside, the aforementioned grunge on the inside of the liners.

Closer inspection shows crud in the details.

A good scrub with a damp toothbrush dipped in barkeep's friend and a little scrap of scotchbrite on the inner liners will get it off..A light trip to the buffer.

The pearl is not glued to the liners, but held on by the inner and outer pins.
A lift with a razor blade shows the gunk in-between...Again, typical.

A sheet of printer paper, cut into strips, wet with WD40 and slid back and forth, gently squeezing, followed by dry strips will get that out after a while. Try to pull it out.
    Gently going...

    Much cleaner and nicer!

Now to go around the outside of the liners with some Scotchbrite and Maas polish/Renwax them.

I will then proceed as in this thread: http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...op-liners.html

    predictably detailed work Tom.

I am saving the pig and the rooster pair for when I start to do work in color. Black and white just would not do those justice.
A matched pair of Henckels 17's with one stainless and one carbon, pig on one scale rooster on the other. Fantastic!

Rez that scrimshaw looks great! If that's just a rough draft, can't wait to see how the scales turn out when you get to them. I love the idea of an underwater theme.

And Tom, those scales are looking much improved already and the MOP colors are showing well. Looks fancy as heck!

    In the tattoo world the pig and rooster were tattooed on the feet of seamen. The belief was that if you had those tattooed you'd never drown. Here are a pair I drew up and applied to a guy who apparently wanted the insurance ;

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I understand that. I have the insurance too. Word on the water is they have a lng history of surviving ship wrecks. It is why there are pockets of feral pigs and chickens in uninhabited areas all over the world.

Probably more food related but today the kitchen was my workshop. Yesterday I started thawing two big turkeys. Today I dismembered them, boiled the pieces with seasoning, and pressure canned the filleted meat and broth. Yield from the two birds was 19 pints of meat and 14 quarts of broth. LOTS of turkey noodle soup for me next winter. In the middle of my kitchen mayhem the mailman came and my shipment of 4 new soaps from SRD were in my mailbox. Tonight I'm going to enjoy a relaxing shower/shave and a bourbon coke. As always "Look sharp and smell nice for the ladies".

I don't know why you wouldn't. Two or three more and then I'm done. I would like to get my legs done. Each leg just counts as one tattoo right? And I have to get my left side tattooed.

    I probably eventually will.
I've bee toying with the idea of getting a straight razor, brush and bowl for quite a while now.
The problem is finding someone that is good enough and that you trust to do the job.
