TBH, 3 grinds are common if not sanded or ground upon.
If a razor is in bad condition, it can be brought to worse by eliminating the transition of the different stone's grinds.
In other words, the belly can be sanded-off?

Best to begin with pristine examples..... I think we know that!
Well Tom, you are 100% correct, as usual.

I took out all four Palmera's and felt their blade faces, each had a belly I could easily feel, all along the blade face. I have 2 that are 24mm, one that is a solid 7/8 and another 6/8...all had the "hamon" line visible.

When looked at the blades instead of head on, but slightly to the side so I could see the "belly" on the blade face and the toe of the razor, there it was, clear as day.

I guess threw years of honing, the visible belly on the face on view of the razor has been eroded, but certainly clear as day once I knew where I was looking.

Now to check out some other brands....

    Thank-you again....

    Edited to add:

Stellar shave with the cleaned up Palmera #14, so here's a pic of two similar Palmera's:

Yes, Andrew, the transition of the grinds is not as obvious on some as it is on others.
Some, you can see it from across the road. On others, pinching the blade between thumb and forefinger and pulling down from the spine to the edge will allow you to feel where it is.
    Nice work!

Is there any chance you could provide some in between pics? You must have done some blending as the original pic and the finished work seems to have quite a lot of differences. Such as where the tail used to be about a 90 deg angle the finished product isn't.

Also the original shoulder looks to be at a 90 deg to the blade but the finished blade looks like it's curved.

    I was just wondering.
