Those look great!! Did you leave the face of the scales flat? It is hard to tell on my phone. Let me know if you find out where it is from. I really like it.

If you need a piece of g10 or micarta for a wedge I may have something. Or you could cut up a pen blank from woodcraft in a contrasting color(s). Nice work.

Pen blank? Thanks for the idea. I might have to make a run over there tomorrow. As far as the shape, I did like I always do. Shaped them like as if they are wood. I don't like the flat fronts to scales. Curved all the way. I'll let you know when I find out where it came from. I'd like to get a few colors. Wood and horn is cool, but I like to do something different now and then. And you can tell how long it took.
    It's just Sharpening, right?

Yeah, you could get several wedges from a 1/2 pen blank for twist pens. If I was doing any serious rescaling that is what I would do. Even for wood scales you could get solid colors or more simple designs.
I'm always thinking about what I could do if I had a shop like you guys!
I ordered some of those brass test fitting fasteners for myself. Only tried them once, but it is a heck of a lot easier than dealing with the tiny micro fasteners and trying not to lose anything.

Well, just as predicted, there is some pitting on that Frederick Reynolds I'm working on. It isn't bad, so I'm trying to decide how much I want to invest in removing them. If I can get to them fairly easy then they'll be gone.

I'm visiting my parents on a little mini vacation, so I've got some time to mess around with my projects. Oh, I also inherited this beast. It actually works, lol.

Maybe I'll pick up some greaseless compound and some cloth buffing wheels. I think I'll practice on a few throwaways first.

    Default Pressed horn experiments

Even though I have some work to do before really talk in depth about this, I thought I would go ahead and post what my results have been so far. Although it is rather more two dimensional than the older work that used hand engraved dies, these pressed black horn scales are pretty much where I have wanted to be. The I. Barber blade still requires some work before I attempt to pin it into one or the other designs, and I have to figure out how to carefully peen with that relief being there. Once I get a razor finished, I'll detail the process used. Name: DSCN4644.jpg

I expect that runs 1750 RPM? Take the guard off and find some 3 inch wheels.
It will work better with less heat.

It says 3450. Would that be too much for what we're doing?
