I've survived by using my Coleman gas lantern and my Coleman propane 2 burner stove. The power company does a really fantastic job getting the electric back on and I'm not say that because my mother used to work in the local office. Back in '68 there was one hell of a freezing rain storm. The crews from all over came to help. The power had been out for quite awhile and I walked down to the office to say hi to mom (the office ran off of a generator). The lineman were asleep on the floor behind the counter------they had been up for 3 days without sleep.

    Anyway thanks to my friend and 'enabler' Joel (Benz) I am now in possession of a vintage Aladdin Lamp that I'll be restoring so I can enjoy it anytime I wish OR during a power outage. Here's some beginning pics;

Thanks for looking. : I'll post more as I make progress.
Cleaning out my dad's apt to-day.
I suppose I have inherited a green version of yours, Roy.
Looks like the bracket and shade are absent. The chimney threads on to the top.
Pretty complicated looking burner. Seems just like yours.

This widget was rattling around in the reservoir. A wick cleaner.

I suppose you take the top parts off and stick it in there and turn it around and around?

    That's a nice looking lamp.

The model is printed on the knob that adjusts the wick.

The shades were sold separately.Without the shade you'll get more light.

Parts are still available for it including the ring that would hold a shade/either glass or paper. Look up Aladdin online. Also Lehmans.

I'd hang onto that and get it going my friend. If you want to part with it. Please give me first chance. :

The 'widget' is what's used to clean the wick. It turns clockwise.
Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

The wick does not want to turn up or down. Did not force it.
Likely has been a hundred years since it was used.
Looks like it is a Nu-Type Model B.
I guess the wicks are stuck in there. Think I will soak it some?
    Any ideas?

I hope you can see this. It's from a screen shot I took a day or two ago.

It's about a 1/4 turn. Be careful those things are pretty thin.

Tom--You have a green Washington Drape font. Roy's is a clear Washington Drape and I have a matching pair of clear Washingtons. Kroil can be your best friend in removing that stuck wick and freeing the wick raiser mechanism. Study the thing closely and you can see how it comes apart. You will have to remove the outer wick tube to remove the wick and the wick raiser. Feel free to PM me with questions about your family treasure.

Thanks! I can see the slots which have to align to remove it.
No Kroil, but I have applied some PB blaster to the outer edge and down in the circle where the wicks come-up through. Think I will let it sit for a few days and give it a try.
    Thanks, Gents!

As near as I can tell from your pics Tom, your green font was made some where around 1941 and 1942.

I knew that my buddy would come to the rescue just like John Wayne!

Here's some pics that might help you Tom.

After you get that part that I showed you out you can see inside much better.

As I'm sure you know the knob has teeth that raise the piece that holds the wick.

IF the wick is still in there here's how it's attached. You 'Gently' pry the arms off and then remove the wick.

As Benz said, Kroil is your friend. With that said, there are only two places to lube for the wick raiser and thats at the shaft from the outside and down through the inside where the shaft travels up and down.

I hope this has been of some help.

Spot on with those pics Roy. Really a quite simple contraption but does it give light when working properly. I think we have a new convert to lamps.
