I took my Tower Brand razor apart today.
The scales are horn, and
"WERE" bent and twisted.

Sorry i lost my before pics.

But after reading up on how to restraighten i tried something outback style.

I put the scales (unpinned) on one of my pieces of Corian, sprayed with water from spray bottle, and put a heat lamp directly above them about 5" away.
Wasn't long before they started to curl up!!
Removed the lamp and put the other piece of corian on top, then put 18 pounds of track anvils on top of the corian.

In less than one hour i had straight scales!!!
Repairs have been done to the scale on the left, also sanded and await more neats foot. They soaked for over a week, but want to reoil them after cooking them.

I've seen it done different ways outback. I've seen where someone made two long pieces of steel bar & drilled holes in each end for bolts & nuts. They put the piece of scale between a piece of cardboard put in between the steel bars & put the bolts in snug to make them flat, then put it in the oven for an amount of time.
Now I'll have something else to do with my other track anvil since it is 6 1/16" long. I'll call it the outback way! I could also use the track & put the scale between a piece of cardboard & use something flat under it & put it in the oven. I've used the boiling water method but wasn't always happy with that as scale would warp again after time plus the hot water makes celluloid scales turn a whitish color & ya have to sand 'em back out again & polish 'em up.
