Thanked: 4206Hope you feel better Mike T.
Tom, thanks for the close up!!
Mine is identical, or was, to the top one in your pic's. Will really help me redefine the lines with that image as my guide.
I have an app for my iphone, called camera-lucida. For you techy's, check it out. It allows you to take a pic stored on your phone and project it over a live image and control transparency. Sort of like the ultimate tracing tool. If you have a table top tripod you can work on stuff, while looking at your hand on the iphone screen and adjust to the superimposed image.
I've been experimenting with it trying to nail some old script and symbols from the old makers for scale inlay's. So far, my tracing sux, but I am still practising.
Cheers.
Easier to show a screen shot. showing Tom's image over a can of lapping compound.

That is the coolest thing I've seen all month! Dang dude!
Thanks for sharing that.. the possibilities..
Same here! A bunch of ideas are now swimming around in my head like piranhas killing everything in sight!
That's a great example of improvisation! I've wanted to put finger grooves in custom scales but never thought of doing it with chipped one's... that is a common spot for scale damage too! I'll keep my eyes open.. you don't mind a copycat do you?Last edited by MikeT; 09-30-2015 at 01:08 AM.

Thanked: 420632T, great idea to turn a divot into a custom line.
Glad I thought to share that app. Like you guys, I have lots of ways to use it. Still comes down to your own hand, which I like.
Still hand sanding my blade, hehe. May end up near mirror by the time I'm done, but there was a lot of good metal still so I figure wtf.

I feel the same, learning new things every day.. almost impossible to keep up! I need a secretary or personal assistant to catalog all this info for me, and quiz me on it, clean my workshop, pull out blades and keep them maintained, and keep an inventory of supplies...
"ummm Mike, you were running low on nickel/silver rod so I took the liberty of ordering some more along with pivot washers, epoxy, a box of Cuban cigars and some aged scotch.. Oh and the cooler is packed with beer."
Thank you handy helper, could you massage my shoulders now?“You must unlearn what you have learned.”
