Mike, I am not much of a fan of wood for razor scales. It's kind of irrational. But if I were a fan, I'd say you did a bang up job on those scales, the thinness, the inlay, and definitely the shape!
Seems like you are leaping ahead with your skills brother. I am honored to have a razor dedicated to me.

Bill that statement, "Doctor said if I wasn't drunk, I probably would have been hurt" is usually true. I'm glad no one else was hurt. Usually the drunk driver is the one who never gets hurt but if an accident is caused like in my last situation, someone is either hurt or killed. Then the drunks sometimes go to prison & end up being another inmates sex slave, usually referred to as a female dog. In my case the drunk driver got his 1st DWI so he more than likely got probation. When I went to court though as a witness in my accident, the DA that he was some young dumb kid so I take it he hasn't learned his lesson yet! I think he did my back for good now. I need to see my doctor about the pain. I don't wish a bad back on anyone & those that have never experienced it, will never know. Ok..........I'm done with that bit.

I was able to do a little bit the other day & started on my scales for my Wosty shorty. I hope it comes out the way I picture it. I think it will look good with brass hardware. The wedge I have in mind should be a beauty also different from my others & not lead, rather brass liners.

Outback, I think we have like thoughts sometimes in scale patterns. My usual one is pretty common with flat ends slightly curved. I might be a little slow (all because of my back) but my outback bin is getting better for the anvil payback. Every time I look at the anvil, I think about you. Congrats on getting the SOTD the other day! Made me proud.
We have some crazy weather this time of year, Tom knows. The nights get cool enough to turn on the heat but on some days, I also have to turn on the AC!

Ohh, anvils? Ive been gathering stuff to begin my restos. I picked up a Dunlap 5239 Vice, and a chunk of iron [6"X 7"X 2"@ 25 lbs.] I hope to clean up for peening pins. Am I headed in the correct direction?

Can't wait for my washers to arrive. Now I have to choose scale materials and get a small hammer. I'm a frame carpenter by trade. Can't use a waffle headed 28 ounce nail bender for this job.

Nice vice, and a fair slab of steel you have Deob.
For peening a 4 oz peening hammer is the ticket. Any heavier and you either choke up on the bat, or risk bending pins not peening heads.
Hobby stores like Michael's carry ideal little hammers for the purpose. A machinist's hammer, also in the 4 oz weight class will work as well.
Glen, among others have made some great vid's on the art. Multiple light taps are key as opposed to nail driving wallops.
    Cheers.

Check down the list, outback! I never got one, so I figure it's because Max feels sorry for ya!

(kidding, but I still never got one!)
