Definitely can't return it after working on it or they would say you altered it so that's out of the question but if it were me, I would make 'er usable again & just take it as a loss but still have a good razor to shave with.
I agree with B52. It would be a shorty but will end up being around a 7/8. If anything, make it such a nice piece when done so it will turn out a really nice razor. Also if you were to put a smile on it like outback said, it may put a smile on your face!

Thanked: 4206Just planning ahead on a winter project. Looking for confirmation that this is the same inlay and scale pattern for the Swordplay that you sent me Tom?
May use the camera lucida app on it.
Going to try to do this pristine blade justice.

That's the ones, exactly! Thing was like new in a display case for a while. Took it out to clean and the pivot had crystallized and was crumbling. Got the blade a little bit, not too bad. I am in hopes my buddy still has the inlay.
Fingers crossed!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."

No class!
Finally! No more classes this year! Now I can spare some time to mess with razors again!
Made a second attempt repairing turtle scales. This time for a Swedish frameback by Erik Anton Berg. The problem was the same, cracked transversely at pivot pin.
This time, instead to glue a transparent plastic sheet inside all scale long as I did with the Rodgers, I had some meat more, so I decided to dig a recess inside the broken scale and install a metal insert to stabilize, sparing the power of the scales to add some color to the flexcoat resin.
My attempts to do this without leaving a scar were unfruitful, but the scales are on duty again.

I have been doing that for AGES! (got a patent around here....somewhere! )
Nice we can share with one another whilst giving credit where it is due!
The repair should be good for balance as it is right at the pivot?Last edited by sharptonn; 12-23-2015 at 03:49 AM.
