What size is the working surface ?

I might be able to get myself a piece of an old railway track. The working surface converted to inches is 3.75" x 2.75". Is this too small?

Mine's a little different from the ones I sent the guys though, theirs is finished on top and one end.

    Yep! Just right IMO.

May use the camera lucida app on it.

Silver inlay. The scales were rounded, so the inlay is curved, not flat!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
    I rest my case.

You won't go wrong. If you have a way to polish one, it would even be of more benefit!

Wire brush attachment to a drill, electric sanding machine and a bit of elbow grease.

My other one would have required an electric palm sander which I don't have, some other things & a lot of work. Outback did me right so I will return the favor.
    Good luck with yours Tony!

    Wire brush is futile...
    Heres my setup
    1. Large grinder/buffer, 50grt.

    2. 6" air grinder 50grt

    3. DA sander 80,220,400,600 grt.

    4. Change out large 50grt disc for buffing pad and buff with compounds, then with various metal polishes, ending with a hand rubbing of flitz or maas. Then ice your arm and shoulder.
