Definitely the vinegar was too hot, just like my lasagne .. Microwaves + Me = (Luckily I don't make babies bottles )

I did a little 1k honing. You can see the blade is all over the place with a honing gap on the spine.
This blade was like a little thin piece of tin, still, it was cute.. RIP

I won't use the other word or I would get reprimanded so I'll say this, "Crap" happens & it happens when we least expect it. It's ashamed it happened. It's like my garage opener. I guess the motor went out that opens it because it wouldn't close last night & I didn't want to leave it open all night so I pulled the cord that releases it to go down. I thought well maybe it will work now that I did this but no bananas. Now I can't go anywhere or get out there to do any work until I get the garage door opener fixed. If it's not one thing, it's another & when it rains, it pours but I keep on.
Sorry the blade cracked. It was a reaction of some type I guess.
    Garage door..............what next?

Things going wrong makes life interesting .

At the weekend I tried to change the brake pads on my motorcycle .
Near enough 0c freezing , ice n snow.
I braved the elements and took out the old pads, cleaned up the piston , fitted the new ones, only to find that I'd bought the wrong pads haha.
So I took it all apart again , fitted the spent pads.
A good hour in freezing weather, wasted cash, now I have ordered the rite pads but I'm riding around on duff brake pads :/
On the plus side ,its the rear brakes, which I don't use.
Just hope the cops don't stop me and check....

Well Mike yes, it is closed but I won't be able to open it until I can get the landlord who is a good guy, to get someone to fix it. At least now I will have a remote again. My last one went through the washing machine. I hope those are good critters getting shelter & not the pesty ones.

Saved one of your pictures to file and blew it up. Looks to me like the crack was there before you started. Look where the small chip is closely. Can't see hot water cracking a blade.

All due respect, it doesn't matter at this point. He said it was his friends blade & he was trying to work on it. What's done is done. No sense in trying to prove whether it was cracked before or after. Really, why? Nobody's perfect but we try our best to do what we can do.

My neighbor uncovered their grill to smoke some ribs, and discovered that a raccoon thought it was his "vacation" grill and had opened the little doors on the storage area under it and "left a deposit" in with the grill brushes and tongs when he moved out!
