No worries about jinxing me, outback! I am jinxed enough for all of us.
I will peen equally on both sides. So I have enlarged the pin-holes in the scales once again to fit the larger variation of the collars. I made a shim out of an old thin collar and shoved it through.
Working inside of the scales with the bottom pinned is a pain. I spread them as much as I dared to with a half clothespin. Used a Dremel with a little diamond drum to take the collar down toward the scales and sanded it flush with my sanding stick.
Roughed up my spacers on a piece of sandpaper. Slathered some CA inside the scale and with toothpick shoved up in, planted the collar, pressing it down with the tweezers. Yank the toothpick, set it on the bench and applied more pressure with the tweezers. Let it set a while, pull my shim out, and do the other side. Run bits through everything as well as the pin hole in the blade. Another test-fit and time to size a pin.
Am I over-complicating this?Last edited by sharptonn; 09-10-2015 at 01:47 AM.

Thanked: 4827This is pretty much the same way you went about pinning all of your MOP scales correct?

Ohtay.....Sized my pin, took it out to my propane torch and got me a good color change on the ends. This part bugs me as these pins are super hard. I hope annealing the hell out of them softens them up. Lots of tapping to go. All taped-up.
Hold my beer, outback!
I will report back later........"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
