Thanks, Mike. TBH, it is nice to have gained a few skills to finally get some right.

I've mixed ink with the watery/thin Ca before with success Steve. Ink, not dye or food colour, can work depending on composition. ie not water soluble ink. Fountain pen ink, or industrial liquid ink from a spray coder like a videojet worked well for me. The syringe idea is neat as a one off. I usually just use a good toothpick and let it wick at point of contact.
I've seen most Dorko's are three pin models, mine was a two pin though so will keep it as such I believe.

So I got a bit more work done today. Had the amber wedge made and sandwiched in brass.. and went to drill it and it snapped. Im officially giving up on amber wedges. Second time. They are too brittle. SO I got some mammoth out, sanded it down fitted it and drilled, more sanding fitting, polished up the scales and am ready to pin it tomorrow! Oh yeah. Finally.

Neat idea on the amber Mike. Would make a cool wedge for sure. Have you tried slowest speed and cutting fluid while drilling it? Wish I had some, I would give it a go myself. Basically just fossilized tree sap as I understand it so if I were to compare it to glass a diamond bit might do it.
That mammoth ivory is not a bad second choice my any stretch! Looks good!

Well, catch up time. I have been at a brothers house who just became very much wealthier than he was already since his mom passed away in early August. He's one of a couple of people I buy for on eBay since he doesn't trust giving his bank account information out online so he doesn't have a Paypal account. That though is irrelevant to this thread. I came home with a lot of things he gave me to sell also.
MikeT, a pop rivet gun huh? Yeah those come in very handy, I have one from Snap on with adapters for 3 different size rivets. I have three Snap On toolboxes full of Snap On tools & parts for when I was turning wrenches on Harley's. I have a couple of cool saws too..............a real nice hack saw.
MikeB52, I was thinking of black India ink in a syringe. Thanks for the heads up. I would never use food coloring. I'll be mailing those scales to you any day now.
Outback Mike, that Wm Elliott I have is driving me crazy. I can't seem to find it & I saw it not too long ago.

I know, I spent so long cutting and sanding down the amber, then at the very least put too much force behind that still but. Also you are right, I should have used fluid for cooling.. Darn it Mike, you just convinced me to try again...
