That's a very cool wind chime Tom.

Great repurposing. And if you got the right thicknesses and grinds, could actually make a set that hit accurate octaves..

Crud, I got my 2 ebay wins confused. 11/16 Morley comes in today, busted Worchester has yet to shipped. The one I busted was pretty beat up, some rust on the edge. Not entirely sure it'll take an edge without removing a significant amount of metal. Which will take me about, oh a few weeks. Lowest grit is 5000. Treating my razors like ribs, low and slow will win the prize

So before I begin on my striped adventure, I figure to rid my bench of this old Butchered Butcher.
It has been on a magnetic jig for about 3 years as I occasionally hand-sand on it. It was covered in rust and pitting and had a chipped toe. I have done all I can and decided to do a brushed job using a Dremel Scotchbrite/CroOx/WD40 job on the blade's faces and let it ride. I will attempt bluing in the blade etch just to see, but as 'rustic' as it is I will clothe it in these old picbone scales using double-stacked brass collars at the corners which I salvaged from other old Sheffields.
Hopefully will make a neat old shaver with some 'character'.

5000 or 500? My highest is 3000 but hope to get a higher grit one day.

Tom, those jigged or stag scales are beautiful. That will turn out a treat!

I have 5000, 8000 and 12000 Naniwas. I have been toying with getting a 1000 to speed up my honing process, but I think that's going to be something I put off for now. Maybe reward myself later or out of necessity if my RAD continues the way it has....

I particularly like the red bumper sticker, in the lower right of the picture. I had one of those, and a more polite one that said "Feces occur". I used to keep them in my top desk drawer to pull out and hold up when someone complained about something. I threw them out when I retired from the government.
