    June 1, 1779 – June 3, 1781: Governor of Virginia
November 3, 1783 – May 7, 1784: Delegate to the Congress of the Confederation from Virginia
    May 17, 1785 – September 26, 1789: United States Minister to France

March 4, 1797 – March 4, 1801: Vice President of the United States
    March 4, 1801 – March 4, 1809: President of the United States

I think he took those positions as reluctantly as Paul Ryan the speakership of the House, or Donald Trump the republican nomination - primarily for the good of the country

But history tends to judge politicians by their accomplishments, not by their motivations. Which means that we'll have to wait and see what president Trump or president Clinton will accomplish. Just like the Louisiana purchase ended up in the history books as a 'tremendous deal', to use the parlance of our time, despite being deemed anti-constitutional and executive power grab at the time.
Don't forget May 11, 1769 - Virginia House of Burgesses!

We don't have to wait and see what either Trump or Clinton would accomplish as president, we can just look back on what types of things they've already done. "A leopard can't change it's spots."

Of course they are however there is a big difference. The Clintons weren't born wealthy at least they know what it is to be a working person. Trump doesn't.

So I guess wealthy people like trump dont understand what hard work is. A heavy involvement running a multinational company, that just works by itself, I imagine. Is your definition of work pounding railroad spikes all day? Im not sure I follow. I suggest the gum flapping politicians dont understand the concept of work. Decades of Lip service with relatively poor results. In a real world work model they would of been fired 100 times over. I am for anyone that might be remotely result oriented and not just play head games with the population.

It's all a mystery to me.
I will sum it up. Because what is going on now isn't working. Working people like myself are sick of these self serving politicians deciding what is in my best interest. Talk about changing a story line Clinton is the queen of that.

Yes you are right. They stole their fortune. Insider trading, crooked deals, contributions from felons. The endless list goes on. Trump is a tierless worker, I assume you would think it takes no effort to do these things. And don't even start on moral character the Clintons lowered that bar 100 fold.

Jefferson made his money, what money there was by farming. He did not accept a salary from the gov. He also died deeply in debt. Many of our current legislature become magically rich after a few years. Look at the Clintons. Getting paid millions for speeches when he is mediocore and she is not skilled at all at speaking.

But isn't that the purpose of representative government? Electing a representative, and hopefully an enlightened (principled) one who understands and adheres to the rule of law, who then decides what will be in your best interest?

Politicians do not care about your best interest. Thier job is to get reelected. There is no enlightenment that will guide them to do the best thing. All they can do is steal from others to give to people that vote for them. Humans have a desire and belief that they can find a savior that will make all thier dreams come true.

As far as doing something for the working man, all they can do is overtax. The socialist blame the rich just like Hitler blamed the Jews. People want free stuff and do not mind who it comes from. If the USgov were put in charge of the Sahara desert, they would run out of sand in 5 years. I am sorry if I dislike your candidate, but the less they do the better.

There are only two kinds of government, a republic and an oligarchy. Democracy is 51% stealing and oppressing the 49% and is a path to dictatorship.

That is what is failing. The elected official are self serving instead of serving the people that elected them. Are the 54 unbound delegates in Pennsylvania going to vote for Trump? He won every county and district in the state. Ask Sanders if the system is not rigged. Not that I like him. Its a good ole boys club and we are not even an after thought. we are just the bank.
