Thanked: 4I, personally, will just PM interested types on B&B in order to lead them to SRP and (cue gong) true enlightenment. Now on to other gentlemanly pursuits, such as this bottle of 'The Hairy Eyeball'. Slurrp...mmmm.

Thanked: 131On page 5 this thread was about people being banned from B+B. Now it appears to be about having the freedom to argue/discuss things in a 'gentlemanly' way and what constitutes 'gentlemanly' conduct. Both are equally important arguments but I only subscribed to one of these arguments. Perhaps the people who are calling for this thread to be closed feel as I do. Either way, the issue of gentlemanly conduct and right to free speech seems to be a second (albeit related) topic and one which I do not wish to be forced into reading. Regretfully at this time I shall have to unsubscribe from this topic.

OK so yes I read them all and I spoke with several people involved in the RW dispute. The thing is according to those people Joel was getting a $300 razor and changed the design without the price changing to a more expensive one. He didn't like it even though he never held it. So RW made him another but Joel made the executive decision to have it changed over to mamoth ivory without changing the price yet again. Have you tried to buy mamoth ivory lately? The ivory cost as much or more than the original razor alone. I don't blame RW for not making a $300 razor that probably cost him $500 in materials for both blades all that fancy or fine. As I say you get what you pay for. Also it is common knowledge that Joel tried to get RW to let him be his exclusive supplier and RW turned him down. This shows that he had to like RW's razors if he wanted exclusive access to them. That to me shows retaliation. Robert has never been anything but kind to me and I would like to return the favor by standing up for him whenever possible even if I get banned for it by the angry tantrum throwing mod over there.
As to the custom thread... We have those here as questions by newer members all the time. I know I asked it once a while back. The custom makers lay low because of exactly that sort of crap. I have spoken to Tim Zowada, Robert Williams, and Joe Chandler. Oh and lets not forget the up and comming Josh Earl. I like all of them on a personal level and moreover I respect all their great talent. I hope to try my hand at it some day and I will be happy if I can make a blade with half the skill they do. So was that thread to cause problems? I dunno. BUT it should not be something that causes a problem. I should not be afraid to mention something that is an opinion in opposition to a single person on an internet board. Especially when that opinion or even a basic list of factual information is the very reason for that boards existence.
People who want to share information and ideas and even friendship have been welcome here more than anywhere else

Not to worry. I'm quite calm.
Back to the point. I've been thinking about it these last few days and I can't help but wonder where the benefit of those actions over at our other board could be. kept up, the word would get around, as it is here and the reputation suffers, as it is here. As has already been mentioned, B&B seems to be turning into a special interest club. Share those interests and agree with everyone else ad you're in for nothing more than a mutual admiration society. We all like that kind of camaraderie and encouragement here too, but if that's all it was I'd grow tired of coming around I suspect. I enjoy this lively debate. I enjoy enhancing my opinions because of the wisdom, knowledge and experience of other members. If you're not prepared to change your opinion based on new information then you're stagnant and dying. I don't want that personally. That's another way our other board will suffer. there won't be much opportunity there soon. It makes me feel sorry for the DE shaver that they don't have a place quite like we do to share their passion.
What's people's impressions of SMF? How are they serving DE shavers?

That stinks Mike. Christ on a Popsicle stick. That's nuts. Why are some things to touchy there lately? That was the first shaving forum I joined (DE shaving) and it was (is) absolutely great. Too bad people can't keep personal feelings out of the community.
