Thanked: 0Alright, I got my monikor back!
I just pulled out of the Le Grelot buy [which bums me out because that puppy looks gorgeous] I was so disappointed with the B&B temper tantrums and the banning of Mike Ratliff and a couple of others, who were getting banned so fast I couldn't even figure out who they were. It was so bizaare - I'd be following a thread and then everything that disagreed with Joel would just disappear the next time I went to the thread, and then all of a sudden people stopped posting. Such a shame. There is so much good content over there, and the mods work very hard, but they are killing the fun of the site they have worked so hard to build IMHO. This should just be fun among adults enjoying a rather silly hobby, it shouldn't be an exercise in middle school control tripping. Oh well.

Thanked: 4942Totally agree.
Actually our position has been one of cooperation with all the forums. I totally agree that we should be behaving as one big happy family. We have tried to include all the forums in our activities and will continue to do so. The goal here is to preserve the art of straight razor shaving and we have been doing a great job of that since the beginning.
Have fun.
Ya know, come to think of it, I may have been banned from over there too........

Thanked: 1i don't look at B&B much--once every several days--and many of the interesting/helpful comments are posted by people I see posting here more often. I did see the thread about the RW razors at some point over the weekend, but before RW responded and things got hot, I guess. I thought at the time that Joel's tone was a little harsh: it is a difficult line between a honest review and negativity, especially when the maker is a person who reads and frequents the forums, but Joel's posts felt a bit personal, not very objective at all.
The fact that the posts that praised RW's razors were deleted along with RW's posts is really beyond the pale--I've never seen such a thing in any other forum. As others have said, it's a real warning that B&B is on a down hill slide. I've seen this before and once it starts, it's very hard to stop.

Mike sorry hear, but I think LX_Emergency is correct about why you got banned.
I read the sections of posts that were subsequently deleted and that is why I agree with LX_Emergency
I have been a member at B&B a long time, and seen quite a bit of polished turd there to be completely turned off at this point.

Haha...read through this long thread.
Sorry to hear about the ban Mike, shame the mod is on a power trip. I joined that place a while back, and after surfing it for a while left because I found this place to suit me a little better.
Long live SRP!

Thanked: 1I admit that sucks, but for what it's worth I never use B&B and always value your input on here.

I think the the custom makers thread, and the subsequent attack on RW had a lot to do with it, but Joel didn't bann me right then and there, he banned me when I advised a member of B&B to check out SRP, because Joel was harassing that member and trying to stop him from considering a straight.
The advice I gave that member on B&B is the same advice many of us give out daily here, and was probably started by Lynn...
It will take time, and you should start slow. Shave your cheeks, and finish with your M3, next shave, try to get a little closer on your cheeks and maybe try a larger area. expect several months before you can shave your whole face, and a year before you don't have to touch something up with the M3.
your last M3 cartridge may last you several months...
This forum leans towards DE razors, and they dabble in straights.
StraightRazorPlace.com is the place to go if you want to try a straight and don't want to hear why you should stick with a DE.
I still think it was because I told Joel that he was being negative and unhelpful, and... well... that whole leg shaver DE comment
What gets me, is on this forum the negativity would have been chastised, because it really was detremental, and if I told Lynn to go shave his legs with a DE, he would just laugh at me.
There were a couple of things I liked about B&B, like their reviews section...
But all in all this is my home.
I'll stay here, and deal with the grown-ups.
