Forgive me, but after reading all 5 pages of this thread and the two on B&B I still do not know the specific reason Mike was banned....This is CRAZY...I was expecting something just like this to happen last week with the customs thread.
That place really is filled with an odd crowd who like someone else said, preaches about how they save thousands of dollars with DE razors while they are out buying expensive brushes, creams, and Gillettes. I think there has been enough talk about that fellow joel and we can all agree that he has his own issues. I RARELY frequent that website as I find myself getting angry and annoyed when I spend any length of time reading posts there.
I find it interesting what has been going on over at that place and it has led me to enjoy SRP more.

And it will ban you for looking at it funny!
In all seriousness, I do owe B&B a debt of graditude. In general, it opened up the world of wet shaving to me and in particular, that of straight razors. Both of which I enjoy immensely. That said, too often have I seen one mod (who shall go unnamed) be unduely rude, abrasive and unpleasant. On numerous occasions I have witnessed that very same mod engaging in behavior far from "becoming a gentleman." Behavior which has resulted in others being banned and/or censored (personallly, I think the censorship the greater affront to B&B's members). That he "who shall go unnamed" behaves in such a manner from the pulpit of moderator/owner does not excuse him from judgement. Rather it opens him up to ridcule. Scorn and derision befit him, let him wear them proudly.
Now will someone pass the Chronik?Last edited by ProfessorChaos!; 04-14-2008 at 11:20 PM.

Thanked: 351Ah... but things do NOT disappear as easily as some might prefer on the internet, so here you are, for your reading pleasure, the fabled Chronik tales.... link 1 and link 2
As for a review of said Chronik razor by other straight shavers, may I be so bold (without being banned I hope) to post link to this review of The Fabled Chronik Straight Razor.
Let's not forget that a member of B&B also had to pack his bags and leave another shaving forum although in that instance, all his posts were by mutual agreement removed from said forum.
I've had a membership at B&B for several years, I think the only posts I ever made were about bicycles or some such.... I much prefer forums run and frequented by Gentlemen., though some might dispute that fact if I am a member of said forum.
I really don't see what all the fuss is about, it's their sandbox and if they don't wish to be harassed by members using devious tactics like logic and common sense, then let them have their little club and move on. It's unfortunate that some gents end up on such a forum first only to be spoon fed a single point of view, but it's up to the individual to find their way around the internet and to judiciously weed out the less useful stuff.
For what my opinion is worth (and yes, I know it's not worth much), I suggest we get back to helping out the newcomers to *our* forums, and let B&B take care of itself.
Regards

Thanked: 131For the information of those who dont want to stoop to going to B+B, the concerned thread has been closed. It seems `Nick` closed it as a result of my post. Result! Kind of....
Sadly I didnt do well enough to merit a lifetime ban, but Nick kindly gave an explanation for the threads closure;

It seems to me one thing for different conflicting advice to be given, but as I hear it, Mike Ratliff has been given a lifetime ban for disagreeing with Joel. Is this correct? Is there something here I have not been told?
It seems a shame on an adult forum that a ban for something such as that would be seen to be necessary.
But oh well, I guess thats me banned, huh?

Reality check time.
Mike was given a lifetime ban for his behavior, the fact that he reregistered instead of simply leaving, at least for me is confirmation. Was the ban premature? Maybe, it's not for me to judge without knowing all the facts, but that's a discussion we could've had if he hadn't forced the issue by reregistering and trying to skirt the rules in place.
It seems a shame that adults feel the need to join a community, not to participate, but with the intent of being banned. That aside, you're still welcome to participate here.
There's been a little bit of a funk in this section lately, it ends now. Off-topic attacks or arguments will be weeded out, or, if that's too difficult, threads will be closed or deleted. The mods are discussing what to do with the various messes in this section. Given our success, it's not abnormal to experience growing pains on occasion, thank you for your patience in this matter gentlemen.
OldFashioned: I apologize for the thread closure, if you'd like further discussion on this topic, please feel free to restart a new thread, and I promise it will not be allowed to go off track.

Glad thats all cleared up then......
EDIT: I just re-read the message and noticed Nick couldnt resist a last snipe at me before closing the thread.Last edited by sidneykidney; 04-15-2008 at 12:09 AM.
