Thread: Banned from Badger and Blade

That's really sad. It's interesting what being an admin or mod at a large forum does to some people. Many take it in stride and really don't have reason to use their extra buttons- life goes on. Others, it somehow goes to their head and they have to exercise their authority to its limits constantly. Like Abraham Lincoln said, it just shows you their true character (Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.).
Yet another reason I like it here. It's not that no one makes waves, it's that (for the most part) everyone just surfs them and has a good time.

We do have our problems, but no ones' feelings get hurt, and we all get to swim again the next day.

I didn't read that thread untill now. Personally I think he was pissed off because of the Custommakers thread. I've always liked the way Joël wrote reviews. But recently he seems to have gotten his panties up in a bunch. Incidently his quite positive review of Robert Williams' razor is still up in tjhe review section.
After the exchange between RW and Joel i've just lost all respect for the guy. RW was nothing but curtious and Joel was actually namecalling near the end of the thread. I was quite shocked.
The man seems to be on a one man rampage to destroy everything he doesn't agree with. And everyone seems to be affraid to stand up to him. I pity the man.

Thanked: 2Before the tread was closed (prior to the exchange metioned by LX, that I did not see) I had placed a post stating how happy I am with my two RW razors and le level of service that I had received. They are both excellent razors, very well made, no faults at all. I said that I would happily recommend them to anyone, the post was very consertivative. The tread was open for awhile today and I notied that my post had been deleted.... The original oster had asked for info regarding custom straight makers, I made an honest comment as a user of two of RW's razors. Seems this is no longer allowed there...

All the other forums (other than B&B) have an increase in new user-registrations right now due to their (Joels) bitchyness.
Welcome to the club, Mike_ratliff, I have been banned over there myself after I opened a new thread where I inquired on why so many shops and sites are banned from linking over there. They didn't even bother to give any arguments - even though I stayed calm and didn't offend anyone (nor was my intention to). Ah well, their loss is our gain.
Well, it's an odd first post over here, I've been a lurker for a month or so, but what the heck
Some of you might know me from another board, for those who don't - well, you didn't miss anything

I have noticed the continuing decline of B&B for some time now. I went from Mac III to DE last year and found it a good forum to learn the skill. The first problem with the forum I noticed was the ban on Leisure Guy. He was very helpful to new guys including me. It seemed the reason he was banned was because he recommended to buy DE blades from someone else instead of one of the moderators. Joel attacks members just because they have different opinions from him. With the RW conflict and the latest outrage with Mike I will still read but will not post over there. I will probably be banned for what I am writing here as I am sure he will be reading this.

Thanks for your warm welcome, Alexander!
Yeah, I was active at B&B until... well, maybe nearly a year ago. It just got too crowded for me, too many rules and do's and don'ts and I got dragged over to TSD, was made a moderator and found it to be the place for me to hang out. While I really do believe in a friendly coexistence and a collaboration between all the shaving forums (and live it personally) B&B as the biggest one doesn't seem to see it that way. Well, the members disappearing over there are enough proof that the concept doesn't work.
I'm glad to also be here at last, seems like a great place for all us straight-lovers to hang out. I might not be that active with university and my duties on other forums, but I will chime in every once in a while
