Rich I'm pretty sure the majority if not all of them are the people that work inside all day, e.g. clerks, mail handlers, etc. I think both city carriers and rural carriers are pretty safe to be around. Maybe. ( Remember it is the holidays. )

Oh and not to avoid the question of why do they go "postal"? Don't tell anyone but I think a lot of them are nuts before they get here. We screen for drugs, driving records, criminal past etc. but I'm not sure about a crazy screen.

The last MIT grad I helped with employment had a guitar, and a "band out of Boston"!

Donated a few dollars his way!

I am currently a Wildife Enforcement Agent for the State of Louisiana. Formerly, I was a patrol officer and narcotics agent with a local police force. I spent 9 years in the Louisiana Army National Guard as a combat engineer (mines & explosives stuff). I worked a year as a correctional officer (I feel for you, Bill...the guards are more cooped up than the inmates). Prior to that, I received my degree in English Literature. Well, sorta prior...I was in college and the Guard at the same time)

I am a Marine. Although I am a reservist, I am on my second tour in OIF and once I get home, I will have spent 32 of the last 60 months on active duty. That's what you get for volunteering I guess. I am a field radio operator, sometimes jokingly referred to as a battery-powered grunt, but last deployment I did security work and this time I am not exactly doing what I am used to, either.

While not on active duty, I spent some time going to school at Washington State, worked as a server-side scripting languages / SQL database programmer & web designer, took notes for blind students, cheddared at a creamery (yes, cheddar is a verb), operated a wave solder machine at Schweitzer Engineering Labs (makers of power protection relay circuits), and provided customer service for Premera Blue Cross, a Washington health insurer. Whew...

When I get back from this deployment, I hope to finish my degree and actually get a career going which doesn't leave my wife home alone for months at a whack.

I am a Instructor for the Texas Department of Public Safety. I have the North Texas region and I am resposible for close to 200 law enforcement agencies and their crime statistics. This keeps me on the road 90% of the time. DFW is like my second home. Before this I have 12 years combined law enforcement and Army experience.

    Hey John,
I did NOT know that we were not suppose to be mailin' straight razors through usps! I have been mailing them for YEARS! When I was in CT the guys at the post office knew me by first name, and picked up on my hobby (ALL the packages coming to my PO box, with the international one's listing the items). They would even casually ask about the hobby with genuine interest. In Boston, one female clerk told me that she colleted the saftey razors after she found out what I was mailing! I'd give her old saftey razors when they were included with a 'group item' off eBay. Now I go to a PO in Cambridge, and the guy looks at me with a menacing look and say's , "This razor isn't a straight edge by any chance, because it's illegal to send those through usps and besides, they are dangerous!". I sort of chuckled, gave him the raised eyebrow look of 'who farted?!' and said, "Jeez, no!". Shaking my head in that "there are all sorts these day's, huh?".

Anyway, we need you to work from the 'inside' to make it clear that these are alright to ship....

Hmmm I'm not a clerk but that's news to me. I thought Massachusetts had blade length laws for knives being sent here. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) I'll check it out. I think it just might be another person in the post office who's trying to be important. I'm a union steward (no one else wanted to be lol) and I love when other "crafts" tell me about what I can't do. Those are the "disgruntled postal workers". Miserable no matter what. I'm feeling a rant coming on ...
