Thanked: 4206Safely got the busted windshield stripped down today for recutting by a local guy.
And got the windshield wiper motor and drive, as well as the defroster vents installed after cleaning up the chrome!
These are so high up in the cowl, they needed to go in before glovebox, gauges, and wiring.
Happily they don’t interfere with any of the original kit, although the passenger defroster is going to mean a little adjustment to the glovebox shape.

I thought you were going with the Brookland racing screens?

Thanked: 4206I am going with both. Need the original windscreen in order to have a working convertible top for rainy days, the brookland screens for windshield down summer fun.
Only decision is to have them both installed all the time or figure a way to remove the brookland screens when not in use. I’m leaning towards removable personally."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Never touched any, but I bet the screens would come off and brackets stay?

Thanked: 4206I think that’s the way it’ll work Tom yup. Brackets are hard mounted and the screens plug into the sockets on the brackets. How to store them is still under consideration..
Windshield is out getting recut, and I pulled the driveshaft to have it lengthened now as well.
Thing is barely longer than a cv joint on a gmc 3ton I swear. But hell it only has to hold back 120 horses at best and the car is called the midget after all, hehe.
Once these items come back, I will have EVERYTHING needed to rebuild her to completion.

Not so long considering all the work involved.
'Let's take on a restore'. THIS one involved much more than what most would restore.
Mike is the new/old breed. Most gents who obsessed over these are dwindling.
Carrying the torch. Proud of Him and also of this accomplishment.
I always mused that Mike was easily distracted after success and moved on to another challenge.
Yet He has carried on out of sheer stubbornness and seems likely to finish soon,
say within this year. Good go!

Thanked: 4206It has been a long thread, longer than the actual rebuild in all fairness as I did have a bit o fun driving her before dropping the hammer.
And as far as rebuilds go, yeah I bit off a lot more than I thought in March of 2018. But I fell in love with her. As men sometimes do with cars, and the rest was a read I’m happy to be recording. Wish I could download the thread in its entirety when I’m done to save with the cars records, but it’s been fun regardless.
Exctiment really builds now as I move into what I’m calling the final stretch.
I cannot wait to drive her again!!!
Thanks for tagging along, and the support through the build guys."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

I wasn't trying to be negative at all but when Mike says the end is near i had to look up the beginning!
The various skills / learning / planning etc. that has been involved in this project is amazing.
