Thanked: 4206Worked some scrap steel into shape and test fit in car.
I like the height of the new shifter based on the parking brake location.
Marked up where interference occurred and tweaked accordingly.
Tomorrow turn the shifter down to size and rethread the mounting hole but this’ll work out well. Then I can tweak the cowling to match and come up with the shifter boot.

Are the two shifters in line? The real one looks more to the passenger side. Or is it just the picture?
It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 4206Must b the camera angle yup, they are in-line down the centerline of the car. I’m using the tranny tunnel itself as the alignment, and locking component.
The new one will be vertically lower than the original slightly, and will have a shorter overall height, but the connection points will be on the same plane vertically and horizontally.
Like I said, I wanted a smaller throw when all this was worked out. Nice tight shifts for spirited cornering, hehehe."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 4206Busy couple days at work has had me too tired to work much on the car. And the leafs are playin well so there’s that, but a bit of progress.
Modified my tunnel cover as required to accept the new shifter.
And I finished the mount for the new shifter and final test fit it.
Can see how I used the two inverted 1/4” socket head bolts as stability feet. Balancing them off the tranny base flange should give extra load bearing and prevent me from needing any significant torque on the tranny casting through those two 3” clamps. I will run lock nuts down them from the top during final installation to ensure they stay fixed.
Just need to finish the stick, paint everything up and add the transmission fill hatch on the passenger side.
