I save mine in an old dirty sock and hang it from my muffler... Just joking...

However, I do know a man that will pick through his ash trays and pull the chunks out and store them in a coffee can until he has his prime blend... To me that is just a little too much...

I've met a couple of people who would pick up cigarette butts off the ground, pull out any tobacco that was left in there and roll a new one. They were people with problems.

I can kind of understand someone not wanting to waste good tobacco, but how much money can you really save by picking through the ashtray? Unless it wasn't about saving money. Maybe ashtray chunk blend has a unique and interesting flavour.

Tonight's contemplation : Viking rustic sitter ,Boswell's Northwoods , a very nice smokey woodsy English but not overpowering. Some home made Russian pickles and Oolong tea. I've said it before that this pipe is a great smokin Lat pipe but, it is a lousy sitter heh .

Just a FYI if anyone is curious my new Savinelli pipe, which happened to be in the bargain pile of pipes at the store turned out to be part of the Private label series. I have smoked it just a few times and found that it didn't gurgle once as opposed to the Peterson which seems to gurgle rather often. Inside the pipe has a triangular piece of balsa wood which I imagine helps drink up the moisture. This pipe smokes very well and is seemingly quite forgiving. As a newbie to pipes I initially saw them as basically the same a bowl and a hole to a mouthpiece with only ornamental variations. I see now that design matters.
Well the Savinelli is a 6 mm filter system withy a balsa filter . You can use other 6 mm filters or roll a soft paper on roll and put it in the filter chamber to adsorb the moisture and the gunk .
I like more the 6 mm filter pipes more than a 9 as those filters dont kill the taste of the tobacco so much
I smoke non filter and it is only my opinion

I have a couple of 9mm filter pipes, one bent, one straight. Both smoke well without filters and I've found I prefer some tobaccos with and some without. (Most taste better without in my opinion.) The brand of filter seems to make a big difference. Big ben seem to soak up a lot of juice, but I recently got some vauen ones to try out. I've only tried them in the straight pipe so far, but there was enough juice left unabsorbed to drip out of the mouthpiece. Bit lame, especially since with a filter in there you can't get a pipe cleaner down to mop up. I don't think I did anything different to normal other than use the vauen filter and I haven't had any juice when using the other filters.
