Thanked: 36The cake could be the difference. The juicier one was reamed more recently, but I don't remember how much more recently. I remember it being pretty juicy before that though. Interesting that you mentioned PAD, I was just thinking that buying another pipe might make the ones I already own smoke a little drier. Worth a try I think.

I am not a big pipe smoker and haven't had a zillion years experience but in my opinion one of the things that I didn't think of when using a pipe is that it isn't disposable. Not like a cigarette or a cigar. It will be there tomorrow and the next day. Not like a butt that you throw away.
Learn your pipe and the tobacco that you use in it. Take care of it and clean it etc.
like straights v/s De's [pipes v/s cigarettes]many of us here want to live in a world that is not disposable.

Thanked: 1160I could be wrong but, I'm pretty sure pipes were around first before all others and I've tried all three and pipes are king in my book.

mmm just opened my first ever tin of Orlik Golden Sliced. I'm not a big one for aromatics, and I'm not really a fan of plum scented tobaccos (Navy). When I smelled the tin aroma I thought 'oh oh, I'm not going to like this' but I have to say, after lighting it, the taste is quite pleasant ..... it's a nice smoke for sure!

And i like the weather like this. It's nice to sit inside and listen to the screaming wind. No worries as i have my pioe, few beers and good book.

Thanked: 1160No time for a pic...off to work already. Last nights double shift was rough so I'm bringing my French press to work along with a Viking squashed tomato full of McClellands 2000 FMV. Have a great day fellas !

Thanked: 36I think that's one of the things that makes pipe smoking more enjoyable than cigar smoking for me. I find there's something strangely sad about finishing a good cigar because something so skillfully made is reduced to a forlorn little stub of soggy tobacco.
That reminds me of something I heard once. I have no idea if this is true, but I heard of a man who bought a box of expensive cigars and insured them. He then smoked them all and put in a claim on the insurance that said they'd been destroyed in a series of small fires. The insurance company had to pay out, but then they sued him for arson.
G&H's dark flake in my 16" clay this morning. Not smoked that pipe for a couple of months.
