Hi Gents

Looking for a bit of advice if I may. I found a forgotten tin of nightcap in my wifes car. It has dried out a bit, so I plan to rehydrate with a ceramic stone. Will it be ok to do this in the tin?

Geek, that is one way to attempt to rehydrate your tobacco. I assume your stone is porous enough to handle the job.

Tobacco can also be spread out on a countertop and given a light spray of distilled water only and then returned to the tin. The main thing is do not over do the moisture.

And always try and use distilled water. Tap water, more times than not will bring and encourage mold spores to develop.

Ive done this in a mason jar before with a piece of foil between the tobacco and the stone.

But i'm shy jars just now 😞

The last time i did this I think i boiled the water up and used an upturned lid to condense water into a bowl with the stone.

Hadn't done it in years, but I used to take a paper damp paper towel, fold it, and put a hunk in the tin. I prefer dry tobacco anyway, if it ain't like powder. After lighting just exhale through the bowl and it will create condensation that will moisten it in the pipe. Old trick by Jim Benjamin. The late, great pipe repairman out of CA.

Yeah that stone should work fine. Many solutions to this sponges, paper towels little clay disks that they sell at the tobacconists, Boveda packs, whatever you want really. Distilled water is the main thing. Moisture is a funny thing with tobaccos some are better a little wet and others on the dry side. Too dry and sometimes it brings out the harsh and too wet your smoking steam which will enhance tongue bite in any tobacco. Something you just have to experiment with to find how you like it. Enjoy.

I'll let yall know how it goes. My biggest curiosity is if it will work in the tin.... So lets see 😂

Made 500 rounds of 45 acp 200 gr SCW's with 5.0 gr of W-231 with the help of a Castello Natural Vergin and some Haddo's Delight.

Keep stacking amo my frend And pipe tobacco also I believe , i houp im not right , but i believe that till the end of 2016 or 2017 they will try to do something hidious They will try to take all the rights , from the very few , we have now .
So few thousents rounds at least is a good choise to stash

Beautiful day here today and I decided I could not wait any longer to try out C&D's Small Batch "The Beast". This is tin 655 out of 777. It is as black as the night and the aroma is sweet with rum, raisins and cinnamon. I decided my restored older James Upshall pipe was up for the treat and it was smoking nice and cool throughout an hour. This blend set me back in my chair for some time. I wish there were more to be had but it is not to be.

Tonight I'm smoking some Seattle pipe club Plum Pudding in a Savinelli Bulldog. This tobacco I have had sitting around for about a year and its really nice right now. Very complex kitchen sink kinda smoke with Latakia Perique and Virginias pressed into a cake and sliced., Just love it.

Enjoyed some Haunted Bookshop in a GBD Conquest Prehistoric 957 with a clear stem that I just finished restoring.
