I just made a pipe in a friends wood shop, and was looking for suggestions on tobaccos. I smoke cigars a bit. I was thinking along the lines of Peterson or Treasures of Ireland tobaccos. any suggestions?

Hmmm, Erinmore perhaps. Nothing too aromatic if your a cigar smoker I would presume. I have little experience with non aromatics preferring to smoke my tobacco in at least slightly aromatic form. Penzance as a non aromatic might be another, but I hated it myself. Tasted like smoking what we call 'Mosquito coils'. We burn those things to keep the mozzies at bay. They smell awful...Just like Penzance .

mosquito coils? not familiar with them. what I get depends on what the shop has. the shop where I usually buy cigars has those I mentioned for sure.

When breaking in your new pipe i wouldn't suggest using anything too aromatic as they tend to leave ghosts easily. Just use some pure VA/Vapers for at least few bowls first.
Peterson has so many different blends of various strengths so it is little difficult to suggest anything special. I like University Flakes, Irish Flakes and 3P. They are not too aromatic, just honest fine tobacco. Old Dublin is good stuff also, but being an English blend it contains Latakia and not everyone like it. I do. I have no any experience in Treasure of Ireland.

Anyways. Here's my pipe of the evening while helping my wife to make christmas dinner.
Squadron Leader from my tine little nosewarmer meer, Andreas Bauer of Vienna.
Strong black lager, Stallhagen Julbock from Åland Isles.

I guess for now it is Hyvää Joulua (=Wish You Good Christmas) from Finland.
