Thanks everyone. I am thinking I may go for the cob set. I did use to smoke cigarettes and was a bitch to quit and my health is a lot better. Would I be a fool to start up this or is it more of a "occasion" kind of deal?

That is up to you my friend but.....the nice thing about pipe smoking is that it is not addctive. Which is to say that you dictate when you wish to smoke not the other way around.

Pipe tobacco has a lot of variety and taste and is far more relaxing and enjoyable than just getting a smoke. I am a former cig smoker by the way, if that helps at all. I did not however start pipe smoking to combat cigs and I lost both my parents to smoking related causes. I however chose to smoke a pipe willingly. I enjoy it very much.

Which one would be a good way with a decent tobacco? I really don't want to spend a $100 and a corn cob seems like buying off the dollar menu.
    Anyone have some good suggestions?
Got to this party late... As others said... Start with a cob and an ounce or two of Black Cavendish... That will get you rolling with the getting the technique down and get you enjoying the pleasure...

Oh, BC is kind of a neutral tobacco... sweet, but not over powering...
