You know people spend a lot of money to get a rifle to be be as accurate as possible ie sub MOA. There are darn few sub MOA shooters if you are shooting from a standing position out of breath and/or hyped up on adrenalin. I am thinking getting too involved with the mechanical accuracy of a rifle is a waste after a certain point. I mean how many times in the real world do you shoot from a bench over bags which is where most accuracy figures come from?

The downside of the slavish rush to get the most mechanical accuracy out of a rifle is that it often degrades the reliability of the rifle.

I know squat about shooting rifles, but I can see the obsession with mechanical accuracy to be similar like the obsession with high end super fine finishers. They only make sense for getting the last tenth percent increase. Don't bother with that before you got the first 99.9% down.

Most rifles can out-shoot the man, right out of the box.

I was just wondering how the smaller round in the AK 74 compared to the 5.56 M16 round in full auto use. I don't doubt the AK47 with it's larger round woud not be as controllable as an M16 with the smaller 5.56 round.

Never shot the AK74 and am unfamiliar with the 5.54X39, I guess I will need to see if I can find one

True enough, the average person would never need to do anything to a stock rifle other then add an optic. All the custom work doesn't come into its own until you are on a tripod or sled.

Yes, I'd like to be able to try an AK74 out too. That was why I was curious to see if anyone had against an M16. I think you stand a better chance to do that than I do now.

Are you talking about a full auto AK or just looking for info. on how a civillian AK clone compares with an M-16 or AR-15?

Full auto control ability and single shot accuracy of the AK74 vs M16.
