Well he did a fantastic job, it's amazing. Might make you change your mind about old Sheffields.

    Yes there is a "Difference",

    But

There is also a "Difference" between two Natural stones, sometimes even between two Natural stones of the same ilk

Just don't try and define "Difference" as Better or Worse and all is good in the world of Razordom

This true, cause nothing shaves me better or smoother than the Kinfolks and it's done on synthetic right? Tc

My late entry to this thread

Starting with blue & working up ; Invicta. Black Demon, Bengall, Sistrum for Barbers use & Aussie custom in Hitachi Aogami.
Honed up to 12k on J/Shapton Pros then pre-finished on Iwasaki select stone wih Koma Nagura & finally on Shobu-Dani Asagi with invisible Oozuku slurry.

First time I do this combo & very happy with it. All 5 shaved almost identically & no need for any tweaking.

Razor fresh off my inaugural hone. This stone only arrived two days ago from a seller who reckons it is likely a La Grosse Blanche and I didn't experience anything to doubt him.

To put it through its paces I opted for a one stone hone (not counting the Chosera 1k bevel set). Worked slow through slurry dilutions, clear water, strops and finishing very light on lather. Nice audible stone. Medium to fast on slurry (though I used bugger all pressure this morning so reckon it would speed up real fast) and slooow on water.

Result: Beginners luck I reckon as the edge left behind my test shave is phenomenal - a nice blend of sharp and smooth.
