Here are some before and after pics of a razor I honed for someone yesterday. Started out as a mess but I think it turned out pretty good. Shave test happens later tonight.

Honed up a beautiful NOS Hayashi Diamond 8000 with the purple scales and purple covered tang. Progression was Shapton Pro 5k, Shapton Glass HC 8k, koma and tomo nagura on a hard fine karasu. The shave this morning was excellent!

    Cheers, Steve

It wasn't bad. Took about 20 minutes. It was dished in the center. Nice and flat now.

Does the 20K need to be flattened as I assume all hones do? I plan on using a worn 325 DMT.

I am collecting a similiar line up as the Big Boys here as well. Same synthetics. The 20K is on my radar. Keep us posted.
Utopian purchased all 3 in the line up. He speaks highly of the 20K. I am following his lead on this. Your input is valued .

Utopian what did you use to lap your 20K? 10inch 325 bench? Input on the dual sided DMT from your perspective 325/1200 would be appreciated. Using broke in DMT 325, CKTG 400/1000,
1200 6in DMT. Lost a bunch of diamonds from that one already.Re -thinkinking your post on the DMT 10 inch presently.

Seven different-grind Henckels old-timers headed to the Norton 4/8. Tiny bevels, all.

    Old Henckels were certainly precision-ground.

    Almost like cheating!

Hit the hones with this beautiful beast, a 17/16 Bingham Tally Ho. 1k Chosera, Norton 4/8, Nubatama 10k, then Nakayama Maruka. Stropped on vintage flax and Timber Tanned Butt Hide. The shave was absolutely superb.

The first razors finished on my new Suehiro Gokumyo 20K. A 7/8 Frederick Reynolds, 7/8 Wade & Butcher and a 13/16 John Barber. No issues with harshness. Buttery smooth shavers all.
