Thanked: 485I attempt to cut my hair with clippers, but my crown grows every single way and my wife always cracks up laughing when she sees it. I don't seem to be able to NOT leave a little Krishna tuft. So then she has to fix it up. I think it's all a lie, and there's no tuft at all; she's just saying that so I have to kneel on the bathroom floor as she fixes it up. It's a power thing.
So, Mick, clearly you're saying you're 'in' for shaving one's pate come November?Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Sorry Carl I really couldnt resist. Like Mick I tidy up my neck and shoulders with my straight, usually dry and it works fine, though those areas are fairly flat, as opposed to my head which is more contoured, I don't think a single pass would necessarily be too hard, but if you slip and cut yourself it might be messy, esp as you would have to do around your ears. Now that's got me thinking about reservoir dogs.

Thanked: 983I may be mate. Just today the girls were asking me to shave my head "Just becoz we wanna see wot choo look like with no hair Daddy!" Personally I'm not so sure, but it is only hair, so there is a reasonable chance I might.
The swirl of a crown is a bugger, but I seem to manage my "tuft" by going over and over it every conceivable direction one can think of, with the clippers.

Thanked: 1160This is becoming the all purpose thread here now it seems ? Just wanted to chime in on shaving the melon with a straight. I've done it many a time and it's easier than you might think. But, It seems through my experience that it dulls the blade quick. Dunno why ? Not a fan of the fully shaved brainbasket anymore either as it just seems to be more maint. than it's worth. No. 1 clippers and I'm good with an occasional touch up with the blade.

Thanked: 485Yes, it is. And yes I've heard it does dull the blade. I like a nice number 1 but a 1, a 2, and a 3 (from bottom to top of the head) is nice. Esp when you need to conserve the top (reforestation is required).
And, tea and buns can definitely make the world a better place. We need a Wind in the Willows thread. Shall you start it or shall I?
Did Toad shave with a straight? Or Badger? It wouldn't have been Ratty or Mole...Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Sorry, I should also give Carl a noteable mention in the "all repurposing" club.
