I almost feel lowbrow now when I brew mine in the teapot and gulp it down in my mug. Meahhh it's tea though........all tea is good tea in this corner of SRP ! I've had two pots throughout the nite...don't know if i'll ever sleep now !!

Nightblade - did you ever get an electric Samovar? (stopped reading at page 15)

I'm considering getting one of those simple Turkish double tea kettle contraptions that do basically the same thing as a Samovar. Although I did find a web site for new production Russian Samovars (both electric and coal). One of those would be a great conversation piece.

Russian Samovar Manufacturing samovars - Coal samovars, Electric samovars, Exclusive samovars, Antique samovars
Hey Honedright....nope I never did get a Samovar,If I ever do,it will be a small electric one.The best samovars electric and traditional come from the Tula factory in Russia. But...in this economy I have neither the money nor the space for one now. It's all about paring down these days for me. i keep only what I need and try to keep a little flair in there as well. Just using my true and trusty stainless steel teapot/kettle that I bought from the Vietnamese market a few years ago. It's never let me down yet..Tonight it's tea Brit style ,PG tips with a little Milk and sugar, Bilbo Baggins would approve .......Name: 002.jpg

steph, something for you to keep in mind, you can get one of those electric water kettles for around 13 bucks, and they heat water pretty quickly.

Upon thinking...maybe I should clarify on that comment ....I can get more enjoyment out of the beauty and asthetics of a samovar than a water boiler and teapot. Otherwise a simple pot and stove suffice for now .

    Default My Bubble Tea

Well you got me interested in the Bubble Tea thing so here it is and here it goes...

I was out of town today and visited several Asian Stores and I was able to find the "Bubbles" aka: Pearls and the Fat Straws... One clerk was kind enough to give her recipe...

So here is one photo from the previous post and the bottom one is my traditional recipe... Basically: 1 part Black Tea, 1 Part Milk, 2 Tbsp. Pearls and Sugar to taste...

I must say that it is interesting at the lease, however, I think that a cream would give it more of a creamy taste and maybe a darker brew on the tea...
