The fun part for me about this meal is after reading the garden thread and writing about picking apples off the ground. I went into my alley and picked a half dozen of my neighbors apples off the ground before the cars ran them over. They all had something wrong with them to begin with and after bouncing off the tar I was able to use only about 1/3 of the fruit but the price was right and they sure tasted good!

No picture tonight. Steak pie roast potatos and veggies.

This is how i made my pie.

I browned off some cubed stewing steak at a low heat. Added in some garlic. Added some shrooms and onion amd let it cook a few minutes. Then I added some flour to soak up the juices for a good gravy. I let it cook a little bit then added some beef stock. Topped up with water and let simmer for a few hours. Put it in tge oven and then about half an hour before eating put some puff pastry over the top.

That explanation was in lieue of a photo lol.

Tonight I planned on corn but had green beans instead. Scratch and dent unlabeled cans are cheap but sometimes you have to go with the flow!

Classic steak Au poivre with potatoes and shallots for my dinner tonight while the wife is out of town. And a nice Cote de Roussillon from the Languedoc to wash it down. The sauce is a reduction of aromatics, white wine, brandy, demi glacé and creme fraiche. The steak was cooked in my Sous Vide Supreme to a perfectly rare steak...perfect every time.
