Not going to lie the Macallan 25 year is FN amazing!! Now from the sounds of it you are on about the same path I was on awhile ago. Please do yourself a favor and buy the Highland Park 18 year (this is by far my favorite go to Single Malt) I promise you will not be disappointed! The Macallan 18 was my fav. for a long time until I had the Highland Park 18. I still love the Mac but the Highland Park 18 IMHO is better.

Scotch/whiskey of the day
Went with the Knob Creek Rye tonight based on your recommendations (and limited selection at the liquor store). Neat.
Wow! I love this stuff! Spicy, floral, hint of vanilla and a strong wood taste. Very smooth also. I'll enjoy working through this bottle
Thanks for the advice guys. I'll have to find another location that has a larger selection so I can keep trying others.

Just found this thread, last night, and finished reading through all the posts, today. Great pictures. I'll have to try and post a few, at some point. When I was in college (LSU, 1986ish), it was the "in" thing to be seen drinking Glinlivet. Not bad stuff, but not very affordable for a college student that had 3 jobs, lol. For the last couple of years, I have been a fan of Macallan, with the 12 being my usual go to. I was able to try the Lagavulin 16 on New Year's Eve, this year and REALLY enjoyed it. Now that I am in the mood, I think I may have to head to the liquor store, tomorrow and buy a bottle of the Highland Park 18, especially with all the glowing recommendations!

Re: Scotch/whiskey of the day
Just out of curiosity, does anyone here recall how much they paid for a bottle of Highland Park 18? I live in Alabama & we pay through the nose for alcohol due to all of the "sin" taxes. Alcohol & tobacco are always popular things to tax if you need more revenue. Anyway, HP 18 is $104.00/bottle here. Normally, I just buy my liquor in Louisiana when I'm visiting my brother.

I think the consensus is that if you like your whisky cold, but not diluted, you'll probably like them. I prefer mine with nothing but a couple drops of water and so haven't tried the stones yet (and to be honest probably won't) simply because I love the flavour, smell, and feel of good whisky that is unchilled. But if you like it cold, from what I've heard you'll probably like these.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
