I think I'd be tempted to go for it if there was any tasting events anywhere nearby. I'm not sure if I'd enjoy drooling over the magazine or resent being offered whisky I couldn't afford. I'm assuming you'd order the bottles if you were to buy them and I'm not sure that'd be allowed in Norway, at least not without massive taxes. I looked into ordering over the internet before and I'd have to pay import tax, alcohol tax, freight tax, and environmental tax because the bottles aren't re-used. I worked out that with all the extra taxes it ends up costing five times the price for a bottle so not really worth it, even for delicious and exclusive whisky.

As for the lagavulin, there aren't any indy bottlings available here at the moment, but we do get the 12 yo cask strength. I'll probably pick up a bottle in a month or two. My next purchase after the classic malts may well be Aberlour, but we'll see.

I'm tempted by this fine offering from Lagavulin distillery:

As for the SMWS. I think I'll pass for now -- I've decided that there are plenty of off-the-shelf whiskies for me to try, yet, and I don't have the disposable income to devote to joining up and buying really expensive bottles. I'll do it one day, for sure, but it can wait!

Okay, just bought my dad a bottle of Elijah Craig 12 year old bourbon for Fathers' Day and myself, a bottle of Ardbeg Corryvreckan.

Nice one! The corryvreckan is an awesome Ardbeg! Had the Elijah Craig as well but i can't say i was really excited about it. It's a great bourbon, don't get me wrong, but I prefer the four roses single barrel or a bookers.

Four roses sounds nice! I'm not big into bourbon so was just picking out stuff that looked nice - never mind; I'm sure the Elijah Craig will go down well.

Went back to the Monkey Shoulder tonight. Might have been the sitting out watching and listening to the rain fall while working on a sudoku puzzle, I don't know, but it tasted a lot better than the last time. Could have just been the moment!

I am trying to decide between Monkey Shoulder and Eagle Rare Bourbon.

Went with Monkey Shoulder and some poetry.
